Day-wise Itinerary:

  • Day 1: Chandigarh to Shimla/Narkanda (120-170 km, 4–6 hours)

    • Pickup from Chandigarh Airport / Railway Station

    • Begin your journey to the Himalayas

    • Drive through scenic routes to Shimla or Narkanda.

    • Optional visits: Kufri and Narkanda are good for panoramic views

    • Check into your hotel

    • Overnight stay in Shimla/Narkanda

  • Day 2: Shimla/Narkanda to Sangla/Chitkul (220 km, 7–8 hours)

    • Breakfast at the hotel

    • Drive along the Hindustan-Tibet Highway, entering the beautiful Kinnaur Valley

    • Pass through Rampur, Sarahan, and Karcham

    • Reach Sangla Valley. If time permits, continue to Chitkul, the last inhabited village near the Indo-China border

    • Overnight stay in Sangla/Chitkul

  • Day 3: Sangla/Chitkul to Kalpa (40 km, 2–3 hours)

    • Breakfast and explore Chitkul village (if not done on Day 2)

    • Visit the serene Baspa River

    • Drive to Kalpa, known for its breathtaking views of the Kinner Kailash range

    • Explore Reckong Peo, the district headquarters

    • Enjoy the sunset views from Kalpa

    • Overnight stay in Kalpa

  • Day 4: Kalpa to Tabo (150 km, 6–7 hours)

    • Breakfast and check-out

    • Continue on the Hindustan-Tibet Highway, crossing the Khab confluence of the Sutlej and Spiti rivers

    • Visit: Nako Lake and Nako village

    • Optional detour: Giu Village to see the famous 500-year-old mummy of a Buddhist monk

    • Enter Spiti Valley through Sumdo

    • Reach Tabo and visit: Tabo Monastery, often called the “Ajanta of the Himalayas”

    • Overnight stay in Tabo

  • Day 5: Tabo to Kaza via Dhankar & Pin Valley (70 km, 3–4 hours)

    • Breakfast and check-out

    • Drive to Dhankar, visiting: Dhankar Monastery, perched precariously on a cliff

    • Optional: Trek to Dhankar Lake for stunning views (1-1.5 hours return trek)

    • Proceed to Pin Valley, home to the Pin Valley National Park

    • Visit: Mudh Village, the last village in Pin Valley

    • Continue to Kaza, the administrative capital of Spiti Valley

    • Overnight stay in Kaza

  • Day 6: Kaza & High Villages Exploration (50 km, 4–5 hours)

    • Breakfast at the hotel

    • Explore the iconic high-altitude villages around Kaza

    • Visit: Key Monastery, the largest and most famous monastery in Spiti

    • Proceed to Kibber Village

    • Cross: Chicham Bridge, one of the highest suspension bridges in Asia

    • Visit: Hikkim (the world's highest post office), Komic (the world's highest motorable village), and Langza (famous for its Buddha statue and fossil hunting)

    • Overnight stay in Kaza

  • Day 7: Kaza to Chandratal Lake (100 km, 4–5 hours)

    • Breakfast and check-out

    • Drive towards Kunzum Pass (if open), the gateway to Lahaul Valley

    • Visit: Kunzum Devi Temple at Kunzum Pass

    • Continue towards Chandratal Lake, the "Moon Lake"

    • Enjoy the mesmerising blue waters of Chandratal Lake

    • Overnight stay in camps near Chandratal Lake (weather permitting)

  • Day 8: Chandratal Lake to Manali (120 km, 5–6 hours)

    • Breakfast at the campsite

    • Drive from Chandratal via Kunzum Pass (if the road is clear) and Atal Tunnel to Manali

    • Check into your hotel in Manali

    • Leisure time to explore Manali's Mall Road or local sights

    • Overnight stay in Manali

  • Day 9: Manali to Chandigarh Departure (270-300 km, 7–9 hours)

    • Breakfast and check-out from the hotel

    • Drive from Manali back to Chandigarh

    • Drop off at Chandigarh Airport / Railway Station for your onward journey
